Atlanta’s Newest Pro Team!
By NICK ALIFFI MARCH 11TH, 2010I despise overpaid athletes who consistently give a less than stellar effort. (Ilya Kovalchuk ring a bell?)
Well fret no more friends as I bring good news to those who wish to spend hard-earned dollars on athletes who actually care. The Women’s Professional Soccer league’s newest team, the Atlanta Beat reported for training earlier this week.
Women’s soccer?
Yes.
Trust me, these ladies came to play…
I could care less about the naysayers who see this as an inferior league. The tickets are well priced, the ladies actually care, they are IMMENSELY talented, and they serve beer at the games. Also, the world’s best players WANT to come to America to play; this isn’t like the MLS where aging superstars come here for one last mega-check. Another plus for the Beat is that their stadium is situated in Kennesaw, meaning you don’t have to fight MARTA, the 75/85 connector, or downtown traffic just to go to a game. Parents, if you want athletes you kids can actually believe in, look no further than the WPS.
Personally, I’m just happy to have a team in town that wants to win…
