Easy, Breezy, Beautiful

Here it is, the annual Swimsuit Edition of Sports Illustrated.  The cover girl is Andy Roddick’s wife Brooklyn Decker.  Is it me, or does that name sound like a sandwich?  Seeing these photos are making me hungry.

Dlisted tipped me off about this video and I talked about it on my show today.  Here’s Brett Favre singing General Larry Platt from American Idol’s  “pants on the ground” in the locker room.  Oy.

Gucci 3D Glasses Coming

There is so much hype with 3-D lately!!  Between Avatar and now ESPN coming out with a 3-D channel we had to do something.  We’re going one step further than 3D with ALL D  for Radio Free Lunch!! Wednesday’s playlist will be ARTISTS that start with the letter D.  First or last name will work (Bob Dylan).  Delightful!!

Freaking out on the inside!

Saturday, November 21st, 2009

OMGOMGOMG!  Mara and I were walking down the street, all of a sudden I heard “Gwen on the left, Gwen on the left”. Mara spotted GWEN STEFANI. So of course we went into the Tom’s Toy’s to stalk check out the toys and possible Gwen purchases. When we went in she had Zuma on her hip, and her son Kingston was picking out a toy for a birthday party. Naturally we were eavesdropping, and found out that he could pick out one toy for himself. Oh, she also called Kingston “James”, hmmmm.  Then we went to the back of the store, because we were only in the store to pick out a toy for Charlie, and when I was just standing there freaking out on the inside, when all of a sudden I realized I was looking at GAVIN sitting on the floor playing with one of the kids.

We did not go and talk to them or take pics in the  store because they were with the kids. There was paparazzi outside the store. So we went across the street, and it was on. We felt so guilty taking pictures because of the kids, but oh well. They are used to it.

PS: They were walking right behind us down the street. It made us really nervous. Ok, so we are may-jah hobo’s, but that was such a L.A. moment, and I am still freaking out a lil’.

Moon Unit

Thursday, November 19th, 2009

We’re getting on the Twilight hype bandwagon by playing vampire songs for Thursday’s Radio Free Lunch.  Anything to do blood, garlic, biting, etc, etc will work.

Are you excited to see New Moon?

Unfriend

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

This is the Dictionary’s new word of the year.  It makes sense because everyone is on Facebook these days.  There are only a few people I’ve had to “unfriend” from FB (for political rants and overall creepiness). If you feel the need to post “25 things you don’t know about me” on my page, I don’t give a s**t unless you are Dolly Parton (she’s in US Magazine this week with this).  Same with a drink request (what?), a kiss (excuse me?) vampire wars (huh?) and join my group! (no thanks!). And I’m thinking Katie Couric (“the perky one”) is definitely going to “unfriend” Sarah Palin after yesterday’s interview with Oprah.

Name This Decade?

Monday, November 16th, 2009

We have the 20’s, 30’s, 40’s, etc.  What do we call the period between 2000 and 2009?  The 00’s? The New York Times had an interesting article about this on Sunday.  Any suggestions?

Sparkle!

He’s going to take over Friday’s Radio Free Lunch! Our panel of judges (Elizabeth, Margot, Jimmy Baron and Marketing Director Will Davis) decided that he had most creative idea:

Some people are actually scared of Friday the 13th. In fact, there is a name for this fear, paraskevidekatriaphobia. I propose we do a show on other common phobias that people have. We will accept songs about darkness, being alone, snakes, spiders, heights, etc.

Tom Petty – FREE FALLIN(Acrophobia – fear of heights)
Smashing Pumpkins – DROWN (Aquaphobia – fear of water)
CROWDED HOUSE- Don’t Dream It’s Over (Claustrophobia)
Corey Hart – SUNGLASSES AT NIGHT (nyctophobia – fear of the dark)
THE BEATLES – A Day in The Life (entomophobia – fear of insects)

Cheese:
Celine Dion – All By Myself (Monophobia – fear of being alone)

Great right?!  Add your suggestions here and check out Sparkle’s debut Friday at noon!!

Today there was some juicy stuff in the (pop culture) news.  First, the story about Michael Stipe being a crappy tipper in a new book called “People Are Unappealing”.  This is so not surprising and I love this kind of dirt.  Expect an interview with the author for this blog when the book comes out.   Also, what about Joaquin Phoenix on Letterman?  What a total weirdo!! Meanwhile, this is huge publicity for the movie he’s in. I’m sure Letterman didn’t mind the PR either (he handled it great, unless it was staged, who knows).  Dave is also going to have U2 on the Late Show for 5 nights in a row in March. In other news, TMZ has photos of the Octuplet mom pregnant. Ew. Ew. Ew–but you have to see it!
