Friday, March 12th, 2010

First off, don’t forget to set your clocks an hour ahead for Spring Forward Sunday at 2AM.  More on what’s going on this weekend here! Dave-FM is proud to present Jamie Cullum in Concert, The Sham Rock And Roll at Meehan’s and Jimmy’s appearance with Jeff Garlin at the Atlanta Jewish Book Festival.

For an evening of art, movies and wine check out this event at Castleberry Point on Friday night.  It’s part of Castleberry Hill’s Art Stroll.

And this Sunday, I’ll see you at the Hunger Walk/Run at Turner Field.

Wednesday

Wednesday, March 3rd, 2010

Hi!  Today’s Radio Free Lunch will be songs with men’s names.  Remember to post your comments at Dave-FM and THANK YOU for continuing to do that.  Last night’s Dave-FM, V103 and WAOK Trunk show was great!  Thanks to all who came out.  We will post some photos later!!

Ruffling Your Feathers

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Some people in Augusta are making a plea to change the state bird from a Brown Thrasher to a CHICKEN.  Read more about it on their website which is called flip the birds (um, hysterical!). I love how they say that the “Brown Thrasher hasn’t done anything for the state of Georgia”.  This is so funny I may actually be on board with them.

The Sweet Escape

Thursday, February 18th, 2010

If you were anywhere near downtown Atlanta Thursday afternoon you may have caught a glimpse of the runaway zebra.  It escaped from the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus!

Workers walk through a parking lot after capturing a zebra that had broken loose from the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus Thursday.

It got out during rush hour traffic which is totally crazy.  For Friday’s Radio Free Lunch we are going to play songs for the runaway zebra.  There are already a few hilarious suggestions on my Facebook page.  Can’t wait to see what you come up with.

Snowblind

Saturday, February 13th, 2010

We are stuck inside due to incredibly icy roads in our neighborhood.  And if you live in Atlanta—duh!  Because of this the “Skate For Haiti” has been postponed (see below post). Last night we stayed in and watched the BORING opening ceremonies.  I couldn’t even stay up for the USA team to walk by (but GO ELANA MEYERS!!).  We did happen to see the god awful remake of “We Are The World”.  I don’t know if I’m just getting old or it was just BAD (don’t get me wrong, great cause and definitely donate) BUT…it’s a train wreck. Judge for yourself!

Skate For Haiti

Friday, February 12th, 2010

This Saturday check out this really cool skating event which is a benefit for Doctors Without Borders.  Let’s hope the snow doesn’t slow it down!  Head over to the Atlanta Ice Forum to see figure skating, Thrash from the Atlanta Thrashers and much more!  I’m emceeing and it starts at 11:15.  Here’s more details.

Go Elana!

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

Finally the AJC did a story on Elana Meyers, the Olympic Bobsledder from Douglasville, Georgia.  We spoke with her a few weeks ago about how she got into bobsledding, what she’s up against and how her chances are to win the GOLD!  Look for her during the opening ceremonies this Friday night!

Ready, OK!

Sunday, February 7th, 2010

Cheersport is in Atlanta this weekend at the Georgia World Congress Center . This is the mack daddy of all cheering competitions.  Kensi, my friend Dayle’s daughter was in it so I stopped by to see her. My ears are still ringing from all the screaming, crying and cheering. Pretty much every dance routine somehow incorporated the song “You Belong With Me” by Taylor Swift. Hilarious. The tumbling is insane, it almost gave me a panic attack!!  Ha!! Wow, wow, wow.  Go girls!!
