Oh Canada

Sunday, February 28th, 2010

It was a big day for Canada on Sunday.  First the men’s hockey team beating the USA and then the Closing Ceremonies (promise, this is the last Olympic theme!).  For Monday’s Radio Free Lunch we’ll play all Canadian artists and bands.  Be a pal and post your comments and requests on the Dave-FM website.  Love you, mean it!!

Thanks

Friday, February 26th, 2010

I appreciate you hitting up our NEW amazing website at Dave-FM!  For the time being I’ll continue to post my RFL themes here but will hope that you’ll comment there.  From now on this space will be more of my personal ramblings (if you care, I hope you do).  The other website is where I’ll be posting while I’m on the air (because I can’t plug this one ;) ).

Olympic Overview

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

The Winter Olympics are ending and we’ll sum it up in song for Friday’s Radio Free Lunch. Request songs for your favorite Olympic story.  Think “Speed Of Sound” for Apolo Ohno or something by Queen for Johnny Weir.

Program note: Check out Dave-FM’s new website!!!!! All of the jocks will be posting like crazy, it’s awesome.  From now on anything that goes on during my show or station related you’ll see it there instantly.   I’d love it if you’d comment on RFL here from now on. Remember, the more views the better so refresh, refresh, refresh!!

Ruffling Your Feathers

Thursday, February 25th, 2010

Some people in Augusta are making a plea to change the state bird from a Brown Thrasher to a CHICKEN.  Read more about it on their website which is called flip the birds (um, hysterical!). I love how they say that the “Brown Thrasher hasn’t done anything for the state of Georgia”.  This is so funny I may actually be on board with them.

Trey To Induct Genesis

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

Who knew Trey Anastasio was such a big Genesis fan?  He’s slated to induct the band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame March 15th.  Trey is in town this Saturday night at the Tabernacle.

Wacky Instrument Wednesday

Wednesday, February 24th, 2010

On today’s Radio Free Lunch we’ll play songs that feature weird instruments.  Example—there is a sitar on Tom Petty’s “Don’t Come Around Here No More”.  GO.

MMmm Pancakes

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Did you know today is National Pancake Day?  The good news is that you can get free pancakes all day at IHOP.  And if you eat the pancakes please make a donation to the Childrens Miracle Network.

If you can’t eat pancakes today, make sure and try some at Rosebud on the weekends.  They have the best stack in town!!  If you know of someplace better—post it here!!

Days Of Our Lives

Tuesday, February 23rd, 2010

Since it’s a slow news day, let’s go with an old favorite.  Today’s Radio Free Lunch theme will be songs that are days of the week.

Heavy Medals

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

It seems like everyone still has Olympic fever, do you?  The USA is in the lead with the most medals so today’s Radio Free Lunch will be songs/bands that mention kinds of metal. Of course we want gold, silver and bronze but feel free to be creative with other metal.
