H Is For Everything

Friday, October 30th, 2009

Thanks to John Server who works at Airtran, he came up with Friday’s Radio Free Lunch idea:  I love this!   He writes: “I was just noticing that a lot of things having to do with Halloween started with the letter “H”-Halloween, holiday, haunted houses, hayrides-and there are also a few current events related to the letter H:  healthcare debate, hockey season kicked off and of course anything going on with Heidi Montag of “The Hills” ) .  So I was thinking, instead of doing some fear/darkness theme you could do something a little more off the grid, which would be to have a day of songs starting with H.”

Great idea John!!!  Plus it’s the Georgia Florida game (root for the Home team and gay pride, Homosexuals).  Today’s show brought to you by the letter H!

Do Over

Thursday, October 29th, 2009

I was originally going to do “scary band names” few weeks ago, but it got put on hold because of balloon boy.  There’s a sentence I never thought I’d type out.  ANYWAY, for Thursday’s Radio Free Lunch we’ll play ghoulish band names for Halloween ” like “The Killers” or “Death Cab For Cutie”.

Bad Sports

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

There has been a deluge of crazy sports stories lately.  First, former ESPN reporter Steve Phillips’ affair with a production assistant.  The letter that his lover wrote to his wife was unfreakingbelievable.  I felt so dirty reading it but couldn’t put it down.  KAH-ray-zee.  Today a gal named Susan Finkelstien (love that) offered sex on Craig’s List for World Series tickets.  Seriously?  That is so sick but kinda funny and sad. Finally, there must be nothing to do in Idaho because some kids got in trouble for playing strip hockey.  The kicker is that the team is called the “Steelheads”.  On ice, probably not so much.

Stone Free

Tuesday, October 27th, 2009

Poor Eric Clapton, gallstone surgery is forcing him to cancel performing at the upcoming Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Concert (he’ll make a full recovery though).  We’ll offer a sympathy card by playing “stone” songs or bands for Wednesday’s Radio Free Lunch. Meanwhile, I hear gallstones are the worst!!  Rock stars, they’re just like us.  Get well Slowhand!!

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Can you believe this?!?  David Foster is scheduled to be my in studio guest for Radio Free Lunch Tuesday.  He is the man behind a GAZILLION hits from Michael Jackson, Madonna, Chicago, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston—-the list goes on for-eva.   The playlist will be all songs that mention “singing” or “songs”.  If you’ve got a question you want me to ask him, let me know!!  The interview ties in with his performance at the Fox Theater Wednesday night.

New Headers

Monday, October 26th, 2009

OMG I am SO EXCITED.  We’ve been trying to come up a new look here at maradavis.com.  My pal Clint suggested making it a class project at Georgia Tech in his Industrial Design Studio class.  The results are AMAZING and we are blown away.  The students are in their Sophomore year and the class is taught by Raja Scharr, Marissa Topping and Clint Zeagler from Pecan Pie Couture.  There are so many great headers to choose from(wow, wow, wow!) so we are going to rotate them every few weeks.  The first header above comes from Aslee Livingston!  Love it!  Keep checking back as will be changing them often!!  Thanks so much you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Horrors

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

With Halloween around the corner, it’s not surprising that Paranormal Activity and Saw 6 were huge at the box office this weekend.  For Monday’s Radio Free Lunch, suggest song titles that would be a good name for a horror movie (Sunday Bloody Sunday).

P.S:  This movie looks awesome, I am dying to see it!!!  Freaky!!!

Let There Be Rock

Saturday, October 24th, 2009

Went to AC/DC last night and it ROCKED!  They put on a killer stage show and you can tell they are loving it up there.  They are one of the tightest bands I’ve ever seen live. LOVED IT.

I’m a lil’ deaf today, but it was worth it!!!

Now we’re off to my sister in law’s lake house for the weekend. Wish me luck embracing nature.

Have a good weekend!!
