End Of An Era

Thursday, September 17th, 2009

It’s crazy to think that after 72 (!!!) years, Guiding Light is having it’s last show on Friday.  For the fans of this show and soap fans in general Friday’s Radio Free Lunch is for you. If you know a song that has to do with amnesia, evil twins, weddings, cheating, coming back from the dead or drama in general—we want to know about it!!

Love her!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

TV Land

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

What was up with Whitney and Oprah?  It’s all over the news and why? It sucked!  1-why was O kissing her butt so much?  2-Whitney repeated everything she said twice “I’m not on drugs, I’M NOT ON DRUGS” and finally 3-her singing is not what it used to be. I so wanted to root for her but the whole thing was awful.  What did you think?

It’s so great that it is fall because all of the new shows are coming back.  Thankfully my summer standbys have been great. LOVE the Rachel Zoe project.  We find it funny that she won’t be interviewed to promote the show.  Maybe it’s because I’d ask her why I’ve never, ever seen her eat!?  She is a killer stylist though, everyone who she dresses looks amazing.

On the flip side, Flipping Out’s Jeff Lewis is always eating and I love him for it.  Elizabeth thinks I’m just like him and sometimes answers the phone “it’s a great day at Dave-FM how may I help you?”.  You are just hilarious E.

Finally, the greatest show on TV right now is MAD MEN.  I am completely obsessed with the whole thing.  Margot turned me on to this new blog about some of the ad campaigns from the 60’s (love it!).  Jon Hamm is the best as Don Draper and has a great sense of humor in real life.  Check out this HILARIOUS video with Zack Galafianakis on his show called “Between Two Ferns”.

Breakfast For Lunch

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

Thursday’s Show will be with HLN’s morning ambassador Robin Meade to talk about her book “Good Morning Sunshine”.

CIMG2420

You know Robin and I are great pals (in my mind) so it will be great to see her again.  The music theme will be songs associated with the morning or breakfast in general.  She’s already requested “Banana Pancakes” by Jack Johnson.

Lyrical Lunch

Tuesday, September 15th, 2009

Thanks to Sue Elmore from Smyrna–she tipped me off to the International Songwriting Competition that’s going on until October 7th.  Any aspiring songwriter can submit their work and the list of judges is VERY impressive (Steve Winwood, Rob Thomas, Adele, Steve Lilywhite to name a few). Wednesday’s Radio Free Lunch will feature YOUR favorite song lyrics of all time.  Also, the Indigo Girls will be stopping by in the 10AM hour to talk about their show this Saturday night at Chastain (I’ll have giveaways too). Of course I’ll ask what their favorites are.

Kanye West Apologizes to Taylor Swift

Kanye West, Serena Williams and Rep. Joe Wilson need to learn a thing or two about keeping it classy. Tuesday’s Radio Free Lunch will offer a few pointers with a good mannered show. Songs that mention please, thank you or excuse me will be on the playlist.

And how sad is it about Patrick Swayze?  He was awesome—especially in Dirty Dancing.  He’ll totally be missed.

Fall Is Almost Here

Sunday, September 13th, 2009

This is great because that’s when weekend festivals start cranking up.  The AJC tipped us off to the Old Milton Country Fair in Alpharetta so Mike and I took Charlie and our nephew Fredrick. It was a great throwback to the “olden days” with all kinds of activities.  It was funny watching the boys go mining for gold (or random stones that cost –worth it though, they loved it).

Are You Ready For Some Football?

Friday, September 11th, 2009

The Falcons kick off the NFL season Sunday against the Miami Dolphins at the Georgia Dome.  Dave-Fm is your radio home for Falcons Football!  In honor of this, Friday’s Radio Free Lunch will feature “football terms”.  Any song that mentions run, pass, blitz, tackle, field, etc. will be accepted.  Go Falcons!
