Trey Anastasio Interview

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Attention Phish fans, here’s Trey as you’ve never heard him before!  Apparently he’s a huge fan of Britney Spears, Paramore and Katy Perry.  Well, his daughters are at least ) .  If you are just dying to know what full album the band is going to play at their upcoming Festival 8 Halloween Show in California you may want to give this a listen.  Hint: Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” seems to be a strong contender!  Trey is VERY cool to talk to.

All Over The Place

Just a heads up on some cool things happening soon!!  First, Friday night is an open house for the Aviary which is a new spa/salon run by my friend Amy.  You can read more about them in the latest Daily Candy.  Saturday night I’m SO EXCITED to host a party at Enviornment Furniture.  You may remember I went there for Atlanta’s Best Kept Secret and now I’m baaaaaaaaaack!! After this event I’m going to try and hit JAZZoo which is going to be a great party to benefit Zoo AtlantaYacht Rock is playing so how can it be bad?  Finally—shout out to Kroger for getting me involved in this “cooking” video. We had a ball filming it.  They call it cooking with Mara, even though I’m only on the sidelines.  This is a good call on their part ;) .

You’re The Mad Men

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Dave FM listener Witt Garber (thx!!!) came up with Wednesday’s Radio Free Lunch theme.  For the success of the greatest show on TV right now Mad Men, which Dave FM song you would use to pitch a product?  Will suggested “Don’t Stand So Close to Me” for deodorant. Thoughts???

Here Comes The Sun?

Tuesday, September 22nd, 2009

Remember when Governor Sonny Perdue held a prayer session for rain during the drought in 2007?  Now Atlanta needs a a prayer session for sun!  Can you believe these floods?

Flood waters almost surround the Peachtree Park Apartments on Peachtree Park Drive NE in Atlanta. The City of Atlanta took several aerial shots on Monday.

Update:  Today’s playlist

Here Comes The Sun, The Beatles
Waiting For The Sun, Jayhawks
Invisible Sun, The Police
Hard Sun, Eddie Vedder
Black Hole Sun, Soundgarden

Behind The Scenes With The Falcons, The Videos

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Elizabeth is always around with the Flip (love that thing) to capture any madness that may ensue anywhere we are.

Here’s DJ Cowboy with an inside look as to how the Georgia Dome music is selected.  Thanks Cowboy!

When we were on the field we seriously almost got hit by Steve Smith.  This is a short video—but wait until the end, it was sick!

This is when we were walking out on the sidelines with the guys from Collective Soul.

“It’s Raining, It’s Sunny, It’s Raining”

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Facebook “friend” Darrin Overton used this as his status update for the recent unpredictable weather. We’ll use the same idea for For Monday’s Radio Free Lunch with sun AND rain songs.

Sun and rain

BTW aren’t Facebook news feeds insanely addicting?  For the most part I love them, until people post pictures of cats.  Nooooo!

Behind The Scenes With The Falcons

Sunday, September 20th, 2009

Elizabeth and I got to go on the sidelines before the game against the Carolina Panthers.  We took these photos with my iphone so pardon the quality….

Trying to look cool

Although I don’t look enthusiastic (I was completely stoked), it is SO COOL being down there because you never know who you may run into.

Tennis star Melanie Oudin

US Open star Melanie Oudin was being interviewed by our pre-game staff before kick off.  She was so sweet and I asked her to come on my show (we’ll see!).

As we were going up to our seats I noticed this player from the Carolina Panthers having an intense moment.

There was just something about this that moved me.  It was a rare glimpse as to what goes on before game time.  Amazing.

After leaving the field we had access to the press box and suites and ran into lots of people we knew.

How much do I love these guys??

At half time it was time to hit the field again where we almost got hit by Steve Smith from the Panthers (not kidding and we have video of this that I’ll post tomorrow).  That’s what happens when you can’t stop staring at Freddie Falcon )

It was clear the guys from Collective Soul were majorly geeked to be honored on the field. I was supposed to be out there with them (it didn’t happen, no worries and NO BIG deal, this was their moment). This is Ed seconds before they were out there.

The Falcons were wearing their vintage uniforms today and it was nice to see the old logo for a change.

After half time we headed to the press box where we ran into the guys from our broadcast team.

The best part of the day was that the Falcons beat the Panthers and it was a great game!  Loved it—and we’ll post some videos from it tomorrow!!

Rainy Saturday

Saturday, September 19th, 2009

This weather SUCKS!!  And can you believe it’s supposed to continue all week?  Ugh, ugh, ugh.  In better news, today is national “Talk Like A Pirate Day” so feel free to say ARRRRR if you’re bored.  Arrrrr.

Pirate

I just remembered that the Emmy awards are on Sunday night and this is exciting news.  What’s not so exciting is that NENE from the Real Housewives of Atlanta gets to cover it on E!.  WTF is that?!  Of course I’m totally jealous, but really? Really???  I could actually see Dwight doing the pre show fashion—this but not her!!  Of course I’ll be watching the entire thing ;)

Stir It Up

Friday, September 18th, 2009

Thursday night was a riot over at Steel Restaurant!  I was asked to be a celebrity (whatever) bartender at an event to benefit Keep Georgia Safe.  I am the worst bartender ever but we all had a blast for a great cause.  Some of the celebs in the house were Suchita from Fox 5’s Good Day Atlanta, Brian Finneran from the Atlanta Falcons, Miss Sophia & Elle from V103 and Jenn Hobby from Q100.  Loved it!!
