ROCKtober

Wednesday, September 30th, 2009
This is one of my favorite ROCK radio cliches of all time!  Happy ROCKTOBER (and it’s the end of ZEPtember).  For Thursday’s Radio Free Lunch the playlist will ROCK with songs that mention ROCK (rock the casbah, rock lobster) which totally freaking ROCKS.

PS:  this is probably going to be my last post for a while. After the show Thursday we’re headed out on our European vacation (back to work on October 12th).  Mike is encouraging me not to BLOG, VLOG or check email while we are gone (doh!).  You know I want to….but it’s time to actually have a REAL vacation ;) .  Check back because you just never know………WHOOOO HOOOOOOOOO!

Full On

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street band are performing albums in their entirety for the upcoming 5 night stand at Giants Stadium.  They’ll do Born To Run, Darkness and Born In The USA.  For Wednesday’s Radio Free Lunch, what full album would you want your favorite band to play start to finish?  How cool would it be to have the Stones do Exile On Main Street or U2 doing Joshua Tree?  Maybe this will start a trend?  Great call Bruce!!

Where In The World?

Monday, September 28th, 2009

President Obama is headed to Denmark to beg the IOC to have the 2016 Olympics in Chicago. The other contending cities are Rio de Janerio and Tokyo. Tuesday’s Radio Free Lunch will be songs that mention cities around the world. Chicago rocks but my vote goes to Rio. Better people watching.

Speaking of the Olympics, remember how it was in 96? For the most part it was pretty exciting to be in Atlanta (except the bombing, that sucked). My favorite moments besides the games were the crowds that never came, the buttons everyone collected and “Whatzit”?  WTF was that?  Stupidest. Mascot. Ever.

Drawing A Blank….

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

on Monday’s Radio Free Lunch.  Because of this the playlist will be “blank and blank” songs–as in titles like “Jack And Diane” or “Alive And Kicking”.  If you’re reading this at the crack of dawn check out Margot’s whirlwind make over on CBS Better Mornings with Corrina Allen.  It’ll be on Monday between 5-7AM.  Glamour!!!!!

Nothing Much

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

It’s been a slow weekend and this is a good thing.  After stopping by the Aviary at StudioPlex Friday we had dinner at the very delicious Serpas True Food.  Saturday we did the exciting Costco and Home Depot runs (everyone was out of dehumidifiers in Atlanta!). Saturday night was the opening of Environment Furniture and it was a killer party.  This is definitely my favorite furniture store in the city.  Plus, Tim is there (when you meet him, you’ll understand ;) ).  Right now I’m trying to come up with Monday’s RFL.  ??????  Maybe my brain is cloudy because I am counting down the days to our trip.  We leave for Amsterdam on Thursday evening!  After that Paris.  Counting the minutes!!!!!!

Join Me!!

Friday, September 25th, 2009

If you’re not watching the Georgia Bulldogs Saturday night (Mike has set the DVR) come join us over at Environment Furniture!  They are having a fun party to celebrate their opening.  It’s all ECO friendly and my friend April from Eventolgie is doing the planning (if she’s there, it’s gonna be good).  Make a night of it by stopping by one of the great restaurants in the area like JCT Kitchen (love it!), Taqueria Del Sol (consistently good) or the new Abattoir (been once and it was just eh. I know other people who love it though). Hope to see you!  Have a great weekend.

Zoo Station

Thursday, September 24th, 2009

This Saturday night Zoo Atlanta is holding one of their best events—JAZZOO.  It’s a great benefit for the Zoo and Yacht Rock is playing!  They are the BEST!!  For Friday’s Radio Free Lunch we’ll do songs/band about zoo animals.  Be creative, there are TONS.

Might As Well Face It

Actress Mackenzie Phillips reportedly reveals a family secret to Oprah Winfrey.

My co worker Lisa came up with Thursday’s Radio free Lunch idea, addictions. This ties in with Mackenzie Phillips’s addictions and accusations on Oprah and the news story about Republicans being addicted to Twitter . For the noon show we’ll play songs about your addictions (smoking, sex, chocolate).  You get the idea.

All Over The Place

Wednesday, September 23rd, 2009

Just a heads up on some cool things happening soon!!  First, Friday night is an open house for the Aviary which is a new spa/salon run by my friend Amy.  You can read more about them in the latest Daily Candy.  Saturday night I’m SO EXCITED to host a party at Enviornment Furniture.  You may remember I went there for Atlanta’s Best Kept Secret and now I’m baaaaaaaaaack!! After this event I’m going to try and hit JAZZoo which is going to be a great party to benefit Zoo Atlanta.  Yacht Rock is playing so how can it be bad?  Finally—shout out to Kroger for getting me involved in this “cooking” video. We had a ball filming it.  They call it cooking with Mara, even though I’m only on the sidelines.  This is a good call on their part ;) .
