Hi From St. Simon’s Island

Monday, June 29th, 2009

We’re here with Mike’s parents (they live here) and it’s just beautiful. Today I got the chance to work out in the AM and hung out at the pool with Charlie (like you care). Until I find something more exciting to blog about, check out a fun event with Yacht Rock tomorrow night. I LOVE this band and they will be playing a big party for me coming soon (stay tuned for that!!).

Miss you. Not really.

Here’s the info:

Come Aboard!

PleaseRock and Sashay Creative Events invite you to “PleaseRock the Yacht”. Join us on June 30th from 7-10pm at Diesel in the heart of the VA Highlands.

Please Rock the Yacht gives you the opportunity to check out some of the band’s many talented aliases. Listen to new tracks off Y.O.U.’s original indie-rock album, new comedy clips from Three Dog Stevens’ webisodes, and some live tracks of Yacht Rock Revue performing the smoothest songs from the 1970s and 1980s.

This is a free event with complementary food, yachty cocktails, amazing giveaways and music you don’t want to miss. You will even have the chance to win The Yacht Rock Cruise Pass, which grants free admission to every Yacht Rock at the 10 High for the rest of the year! So spread the word, because all are welcome!

RSVP to RSVP@SashayEvents.com and receive more chances to win amazing prizes.

TV Time

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

This is late, but I finally finished the ABC season finales of “Brothers And Sisters” and “Private Practice”.  On B&S—what a waste!!  Enough with the illegitimate kids already!  And Tommy in Mexico?  They should have killed him off.  PP on the other hand had an AWESOME finish with one of the best cliffhangers ever.  Ugly Betty was amazing and is probably the best of all the ABC shows.  Don’t get me started on LOST. The finale was great but this season was a little on the lame-O side.

Over on Bravo the Real Housewives rock.  I don’t care where they are from, I’ll be watching.  New Jersey was awesome, especially the reunion show.  Dina and Caroline are my faves. I know she brings the drama, but get Danielle off this show. The Atlanta girls start back up July 30th and I can’t wait.  Have you checked out NYC Prep? Where do they find these people?  Loving it.  I’m not sure I’m feeling this new “Top Chef Masters” show. It’s more fun watching the amateurs than the pros and the new Padma is awful.  Kathy Griffin’s D List is pretty good too and the episode with Paula Deen was absolutely hilarious.

Over on TV Land, “She’s Got The Look” is fun.  If you love America’s Next Top Model this is the version for the over 35.  Some of the girls are crazy so of course I love it.  On HBO True Blood is all the rage this summer so I’m trying to jump into season 2.  The first episode was pretty cool (sex! blood! vampires!) so I totally get why people love it.  The new season of Entourage is coming on soon and a new show called “Hung” which is about a male prostitute.  In!!

Since there are very few shows Mike and I can watch together we have been tearing through season 1 of Mad Man on DVD (thx Allise!). O-M-G that show is amazing and we can’t get enough.  We have about 4 ep’s left so don’t tell me what happens.

I want to catch up with season 2 so I can be ready for the new season in August.  We also love Weeds but since we don’t have Showtime . I am about to get season 4 for our trip to the beach tomorrow. LOVE that show.  What shows are you watching?  Or do I just need to read a book?  Why bother!

I’ll Stop When I Get Enough

Saturday, June 27th, 2009

Ever since MJ died I just can’t stop listening to the music and watching the videos. Apparently I’m not alone, Jackson’s album sales are off the charts since he died. It is going to be CRAZY over the next few weeks seeing what happens with the autopsy, will, debt and news media scrutiny overload. It will be a freak show, but that is part of Michael Jackson’s legacy. I’m just focusing on the awesome music and videos like this one.  You gotta love the bubbles (not the chimp) in the end.

Don’t you love how in “Beat It” a knife fight turns into a wild dance party!!  You gotta love the 80’s.

Program Note

Friday, June 26th, 2009

Just a heads up, I will be on vacation from the radio all next week for the 4th of July holiday.  Not to worry though—I will be posting from the beach at St Simon’s Island (or the Starbucks).  Keep checking back for exciting news ;)

Go Green and Michael Jackson

Fruit and Veg

Dave-FM is sponsoring the “Go Green” Expo at the Cobb Galleria so Friday’s Radio Free Lunch will be an organic feast.  All the songs or artists will be associated with fruits and vegetables. Think “Red Hot Chili Peppers” or “Strawberry Fields Forever”.

I really wanted to do a set of all Michael Jackson (I still can’t believe it) but this was planned in advance.  Please feel free to post your comments and memories about Michael. His music will live on forever!!

Today in honor of Michael, I want you to post your 2 favorite Michael Jackson songs.  The most popular choices will be played at the end of the RFL!

Wow

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

I can’t believe Michael Jackson is dead.  It’s just so weird and this totally came out of nowhere.  On the way home tonight “She’s Out Of My Life” came on V103 and I got a little teary.  My greatest memory of MJ was watching the Thriller video over and over and over again thinking it was the coolest thing on the planet.  Whatever was dark about his personal life is overshadowed by his incredible music career.  What are your fondest memories of Michael Jackson?  RIP King Of Pop…….

Flying Solo

Thursday, June 25th, 2009

Thursday’s Radio Free Lunch idea comes from Eddie Vedder playing the Cobb Energy Center the past two nights and Paul McCartney playing Piedmont Park August 15th. They both have impressive solo careers after being in a huge band. There are so many artists who fit in this category. Peter Gabriel, Sting, Morrissey, Mark Knopfler, the list goes on and on!  Who are your favorite solo artists??
