Suddenly Single

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Oh the drama!  Real Housewives of NY fans will be shocked (not!) to hear that Countess Luann getting divorced.  Apparently the Count was having an affair. There was no sign of this last month when I interviewed her. She spoke of him very highly?!  Tough break.

The Countess will be just fine in the long run. She’s keeping busy with her new book “Class With The Countess” (classic) and counting the money from the settlement.  Can we call her Luann now or does she keep the Countess name?!?

Status Quo

There is something incredibly entertaining, voyeristic, creepy and fun about Facebook.  While checking out the status of some of my friends I thought it may make a funny Radio Free Lunch idea.  The songs for Tuesday will be titles that could be your Facebook status.  Mara is—Free Falling, Wrapped Around Your Finger or Working On A Dream.  What’s yours??

Grunge-y Monday

Monday, March 30th, 2009

Wind proof flannel shirt

On the heels of Dave-FM’s “Pearl Jam” weekend, let’s keep it going by focusing on the best Grunge rock bands (this is a list I love).  For Radio Free Lunch we’ll accept the godfathers like Neil Young or Led Zep and the standbys like Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc. Also, at 1pm I’ll have a major concert announcement.  Here’s a hint, you two may love this show ;)

Brunch And A Movie

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

We took Charlie to see Monsters Vs. Aliens this weekend.  There are so many great voices in the film (Stephen Colbert, Reese Witherspoon, Kiefer Sutherland to name a few) and we just loved it. It’s totally cute for the whole family.

Monsters vs. Aliens

We also had a fabulous meal at Food 101 in Morningside.  They have the greatest whole wheat pancakes EVER and they’re not just for brunch anymore. Starting this Monday they are going to be doing breakfast for dinner on Monday nights. This is such a wacky idea and I love it!  Definitely get the pancakes ;)

The Motherlode

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

My mother is always such a hoot when she comes on the air.  Here we are together yakking it up on Friday’s show.

She was hilarious, as usual. We had a great time and she’ll be back on in a few weeks.  Also, thanks to Honey Honey who popped in for an in studio performance that happened to be terrific.

They impressed Arlene Davis, which is saying a lot—she is one tough broad.  Now you know where I get it from ;)

Tacky?

Sunday, March 29th, 2009

A few nights ago we went to high end restaurant restaurant that we’ve been wanting to try. The experience overall was good, not great (especially since it was outrageously overpriced). When the server presented the check he pitched us on how the restaurant is “collecting money for starving kids in Africa and can we please donate”. Now, I’m all for helping with charities but, hello?! We were just charged for a side dish and now we’re supposed to shell out more cash? What about saying “a portion of your check will go to the charity”.  At those prices they may have a few dollars to spare. FAIL!  Or not?  Thoughts?

All About Me

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Friday’s Radio Free Lunch will be the most self centered show ever!  We’ll play all songs that mention I, Me or Mine.  Also, at 1PM “Honey Honey” will be popping into the studio for a live performance.  Also, this weekend check out the ING Georgia Marathon.  This is a great thing to take your whole family to and here’s more information.

Atlanta was selected as one of the 6 cities to be in the inaugural World Football Challenge!  It’s not until July but this should be very cool.  The event is at the Georgia Dome and we’ll definitely be taking Charlie!  Get all the details here.
