Who do you recommend for green living in prefab home construction in GA?

Hi Rocco,
Do you have an opinion about Allure vinyl flooring? My family has a 30 year old cabin up in the mountains at Lake Burton (N. Georgia) and we want to replace the 30 year old carpet (gross) which is approx 1300 square feet. It is pretty humid up there and there is no A/C. Home Depot in Clayton was really pushing this flooring b/c it looks like hardwood and is supposedly waterproof and is cheaper than laminate.
I have seen various pro's and cons posted on the internet about it. Just wondering if this is a "green" product and if you recommend it?? I have some concerns b/c it comes from China but says it's made of recycled vinyl. Several people have complained that it startes lifting at the seams/corners. Others have complained of a chemical smell. There are also reviews out there by people who say they love it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Well I have never used it so I cant say how it wears. It is made of recycled products so that is good. Anytime you can use a recycled material in your home it helps!! iN fact thats what ill be talking about tomorrow on the show.

It's cool that they have a "green" page for you. Maybe you could help Dave FM go green and to stop playing advertising for BP. It is a pretty insulting commercials, saying BP is doing what they can to fix the oil spill, and to basically stop boycotting them.

We would like to replace our carpet & want to know what would be good. No children, no pets ... currently have hardwood in kitchen, laundry rooms & baths. Keeping cost low would be great too! Neighbors have bamboo, hubby prefers "real" hardwood as opposed to lament. ???
