And Now A Word From Our Sponsors…

I did some thinking last night after watching our Georgia Force lose to the less talented (except last night) Cleveland Gladiators.  What I came to the conclusion of was: why can’t this town win a championship?  I’ve been here my whole life, I love this town and it pisses me off to NO end when we have SUCH talent and we just can’t seem to win it all.  Granted I understand there are other cities that have had a longer drought, but we’re not talking about them.  We’re talking about the A-T-L.

The Force lost last night 73-70 to the Gladiators in the divisional playoff round.

The Braves haven’t been to the World Series since winning it in 1995.  After 14 years in a row of winning the division, we haven’t been to the playoffs in 3.

The Falcons lost Super Bowl XXXIII to the Broncos 34-19 and haven’t been stellar since.  I know, I know, we won the NFC South in 2004.

The Thrashers make it to the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in the 05-06 season only to get swept by the NY Rangers.

Here’s the thing too, before all this happened with the Braves back in 1995, the first team to bring a championship back to Atlanta were the IFL Hockey team the Atlanta Knights.  They brought home the Turner Cup.

I don’t want you all to think I’m picking on our city, I’m not, I love this city and I love our sports.  I’m just tired of being the butt of sports jokes.  It’s like everyone LOVES to take a jab at Atlanta.  What’s even worse is when we’re called a fair weather city…DRIVES ME NUTS!

The point of this rant is to just say that I want to see this town do well and bring us home a well warranted championship.  So here’s what we need to do, we need to support the HELL out of this city.  I know the economy is garbage and we’ll all feeling the pinch, but sports are our release, so let’s release.

LOVE!

Atlanta is a fair-weather city… In fact, its the text book definition of it. This is the city that booed Jeff Francouer (a native son!)just because he went through a rough patch. Look at any live broadcast from around town (Hawks, Thrashers, Braves, etc) EMPTY SEATS ABOUND! LAME! Even in the playoffs, Braves fans refused to support this team, no matter the record… I understand the Hawks not having support until now, the owners had that coming. But you cant even heckle at the games without some uniformed pygmy tell you to be quiet. Ol’stupid bland town!!! Thats why im a Yankees fan.
