Center Ice
I make no secret of the fact that in a sea of football fans, I’m an unapologetic hockey chick. Every year, I spring for the Center Ice package so I can see my beloved Red Wings. (I’m certainly not dissing the Thrashers because I go to lots of their games. But IÂ grew up in Michigan.)
Anyway, the point of this post, other than to share my enthusiasm for hockey, is to let you know there are two places in Atlanta you can go and watch hockey, no matter who you root for, because they have Center Ice and they are fun places to hang.
If you’re ever in my neighborhood, East Atlanta, you need to check out The Midway Pub. http://www.themidwaypub.com It’s one of my homes away from home. I guarantee you that you will like it a lot. You don’t just need to go for hockey, either, because they show all the NFL and college games too.
The other place that’s cool is a place Sully turned me on to. It’s the Midtown Tavern. http://www.midtowntavern.net/news.php As the name suggests, it’s located in Midtown and you can get any sports fix you want.
I’ll leave you with one of my favorite moments in hockey history. Go McCarty! (By the way, if you see the number 13 sweater in this video, it is Thrashers 13, Slava Kozlov. He was a Wing before he came to Atlanta.)
