Deja-vu.

Thursday, May 28th, 2009

Looks like the series for Lord Stanley’s cup is the same as last year, The Pittsburgh Penguins vs. The Detroit Red Wings.  It all begins on the 30th, which will probably be before the NBA Finals get wrapped up, and will start in Detroit.  Hockey fans have to ask themselves…will it be as good as last year?  The Pens played GREAT hockey last year only to be dominated by a Detroit team that was well…better.

Ah how the tables have turned.

Pittsburgh beat the brakes off of Carolina to advance to their second Stanley Cup Final in as many years and the Red Wings took down the Chicago Blackhawks in 5 to advance to Cup Final as well.  Thing is, Pittsburgh looks destined to win and Detroit looked a bit tired of late…hell, they put Chris Chelios on the ice last night.  Do they allow wheelchairs on the ice?  The guy has to be at least 100 and I think he played hockey with Lord Stanley himself.  On a side note, please don’t beat me up Chris Chelios (he could still beat me like I owed him money).

So another Original Six Stanley Cup, that’s good hockey right there.  Question is…will you watch it?

A Sad Day for the World of Disney.

Thursday, May 21st, 2009

Ah yes, Disney World, Disney Land (not Euro Disney) and all things Magic Kingdom; as a child, there was no better place to be in the world.

Unfortunately though, the voice of “Mickey Mouse” has passed away.  Wayne Allwine, the third voice actor of “Mickey Mouse” died Monday due to complications of diabetes, he was 62.  Allwine has done the voice longer than any of the voice actors before him.  Walt Disney voiced the mouse from 1928-1947, Jimmy MacDonald then took over and voiced him from1948-1953 and sporadically until 1977 when it was passed on to Allwine.

If you want to read more information on Wayne, you can go to Legends.Disney.go.com.

Russi Taylor, his wife, was at his side at the time of his death and is the current voice of “Minnie Mouse.”  The couple were married in 1991.

Green Coke Zero?

Thursday, May 14th, 2009

Yeah, you thought I was talking about some odd Mellow Yellow Coke hybrid didn’t you?  Negatory Ghost Rider.

I was reading the AJC this morning and saw a story about how Coca-Cola is creating what they are calling the “PlantBottle” that is easy to recycle (and cheaply) and will decompose quite quickly.  They are doing so under the scrutiny from some experts that the timing of said bottle has been a long time coming.

At least they are finally making it is what I say.  Granted I’m not the most environmentally sound person, but I do believe in recycling and protecting our Mother Earth.  Everyone should be glad that the harmful plastic bottles are now being replaced with a more environmentally friendly bottle made with sugarcane and molasses.  Plastic takes between 450-1000 years to decompose while these new bottles take a fraction of the time.  My cousin in Hawai’i is apart of a similar crusade with styrafoam ‘to-go’ boxes.

We need to protect our planet, we don’t need her pissed.

In other news that I’m sure you are dying to know about…Ashton Kutcher was here to punk CNN by leaving 800 boxes of Ding Dongs on Ted Turner’s Ted’s Montana Grill and putting his Twitter name on the CNN logo downtown.  If you still care, you can read about it here.

Drew Peterson arrested…finally!

Friday, May 8th, 2009

I know it’s been a while since I’ve blogged to you and I’m not going to make up excuses because there are no, I was slacking.  Not anymore, it’s time to air out the good old opinion.

So Drew Peterson, former police sergeant of 30 years has been in the media as of late to tout off the fact that he’s engaged to a 24 year old (who by the way has been under a rock for said years).  Granted this will be Peterson’s FIFTH wife and I hope she’s taken out a life insurance policy because this guy’s track record isn’t so good.  His fourth wife, Stacy Peterson, is still missing.

Peterson was arrested yesterday during a traffic stop and is being held on $20 million bond.  He’s being charged with the murder of his third wife, Kathleen Savio.  The death of Savio was first deemed an accident by drowning, but after her body was exhumed that changed.  Peterson was always considered a suspect, like most husbands are when their wife, or ex-wife in this case, are murdered.  Savio was found dead in her bathtub with bloodied hair and a head wound just a few days before her divorce from Peterson was finalized.  A grand jury indictment alleges that “Peterson on or about Feb. 29, 2004 … caused Kathleen Savio to inhale fluid,” causing her death.

What’s really sad is that Savio’s family has said that Kathleen had long feared Peterson and that if anything had happened to her it wouldn’t be an accident.  A woman should never have to live in fear of her husband.

Recently, Peterson appeared on The Early Show with his son, Thomas, to proclaim his innocence.  Granted his attorneys believe they have a hell of an alibi, I beg to differ, something just doesn’t seem right.  His son said that Peterson was with them around the time of the death.  “I highly do not believe that my dad had murdered my mom. Because, first off, he wasn’t there, he was with us during that period of time,” Thomas Peterson said on the show.

I’m sure he was son, fear makes you say a lot of things.

Here’s the kicker in this whole thing.  After they arrested him he told the Joilet Herald-News, “I guess I should have returned those library books.”  There will be plenty of time to read in the big house, Chief.
