Random Task Seen At Press Conference.

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Ah yes, Austin Powers references are still funny.

So in case you missed some things over the weekend.  Miss Russia was crowed Miss World, Tim Tebow was denied his second Heisman (YES!) since Sam Bradford of Oklahoma won it and President Bush was greeted by two size 10 shoes at a press conference in Iraq.  The reporter, Muntazer al-Zaidi, shouted “this is a goodbye kiss from the Iraqi people, dog,” before he was gang tackled by security.

Iraqi Prime Minister, Nouri al-Maliki tried to deflect the second shoe, but Bush’s cat-like reflexes helped him to avoid being beaned in the head.  Bush is visiting Iraq for a last time before he hands over the controls to President-elect Barack Obama in just 37 days.

If you’re wondering why shoes, it is a sign of contempt against someone in the Middle East.  If you remember, the Iraqis beat the toppled statue of Saddam Hussein back in 2003 with their shoes.

Here’s the vid if you haven’t seen it.

Keep rocking Atlanta, life is good…and honestly…who throws a shoe?

Another Call For Assistance

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Salutations fellow DaveFM lovers.

It would appear that I need to call upon you again to help a cause that will, hopefully not anytime soon, save your life.  I’m talking about giving blood.  I’ve asked before and will ask again since it is VERY important.

Just a few facts about giving blood that I think you should know.

1. Giving ONE (1) pint of blood will save three lives.

2. Someone needs blood every 2 seconds.

3. About 1 in 7 people entering the hospital need blood.

4. Shortages of blood happen around winter and summer holidays.  (It really is the ultimate gift)

5.  More than 4.5 million people in the U.S. and Canada need blood transfusions every year.

See, those are just a few things you should know to give you that little nudge to get to your local blood donation center.

Two ways to get ahold of the American Red Cross to donate blood (plasma and platelets too if you’re so inclinded).

It’s the least we can all do especially with the holidays here and will only take ABOUT an hour of your time.  I’ve done it before and I will do it again, this time without passing out.  HA!

Keep rocking and give life Atlanta…that life you give will be good.

Even “Chicken Little” would be proud….

Tuesday, December 9th, 2008

You’ll get a kick out of this!  Who knows if they are the “Chicken Police” or the “Chicken Mafia”???  Either way, it’s obvious who calls the shots in this yard!  Haha…………

“We said NO FIGHTING!!!”

Have a great day!…………D

Not 2 wallow in other people’s misery, BUT this is funny!!!

Friday, December 5th, 2008

I heard this last night & couldn’t help but 2 laugh.  Does this guy look familiar???

The name Jason Alexander ring a bell???  Ok, so not the guy from Seinfeld.  But this one was famous for a few minutes a couple years ago.  Does Britney Spear’s help???  Allrite, I’ll just tell U because I really didn’t remember him either.  U won’t 4get him now though.  This poor soul is the guy that she married B4 Kevin Federline 4 all of about 55 hours & then had it annulled!  They were childhood friends, young & didn’t really know each other, blah, blah, blah.  Point being, he is now serving 10 days in jail 4 violating his probation from a DUI.  Big deal, I know.  Now here’s the interesting part, he was supposed 2 visit a morgue & actually view dead bodies as part of his probation per the judge.  Well he ”no-showed” twice @ the county morgue so the judge revoked his probation & locked him up 4 the next 10 days!  What was he thinking???  Haha!!!  Have a great day………D

An Honest Question For You.

Thursday, December 4th, 2008

If a tree falls in the woods and no one is there to hear it, did it really fall?

Nah, I joke.

Here is the real question.  Now this isn’t one of those questions that is meant to cause a ruckus or to make anyone mad.  The last thing I want to do is piss anyone off, but what I have to ask is…

Do we really need a speed limit really early in the morning?

The reason I ask is that since I’ve been working in radio, my hours basically revolve around, let’s give the median time of 3:30am, and the roads are usually D-E-A-D.  Now this question only really pertains to the highways, not the back roads.  Back roads need speed limits, no doubt about that.

Also, this isn’t a dig to state and local law enforcement who are on the highways and freeways either, I have a TON of respect for them and wanted to be one when I was younger.

Here’s the reasoning behind it.  Nearly EVERY morning when I’m driving in, there are people just blasting by me going at least 85 mph.  I’m not saying that I drive the limit, I’ve been known to go a little fast from time to time, but these people are FLYING!  The kicker behind that is that the people going slower in the left lane or the middle lane cause the most problem driving at or a little above the limit.  Should you speed?  No.  Can you speed responsibly and intelligently?  I think you can.   Look at the Autobahn, there is no general speed limit, but the “recommended” speed limit is 81mph.  AND…the accident and fatality rate on the Autobahn is lower than other highways in Europe.  I’m not saying we need an autobahn here in the States, I’m just saying that MAYBE…and that’s a big maybe…we need to be a little more slack on the highways and freeways during the hours of 12-5am.

Again, this isn’t a post to piss everyone off or to get everyone riled up.  Safe driving is still the most important way to drive and when you DO drive…that’s all you should be doing.  No texting, no putting on make up, no reading the paper, no eating.  Just drive.  Let me know what you think, the more we talk about it, the more action and education we can derive.

Keep rockin’ and driving safe Atlanta, life is good.

My sincerest apology…..

Wednesday, December 3rd, 2008

I so apologize 4 the stalemate w/ my blog since B4 the holiday weekend.  I’ve been caught up in the whackiest moving situation 4 over a week now & I would totally bore U w/ that whole Xplanation, but why!  Right???  Haha.  I’m just gonna leave all that in the past & hook up w/ a short lil’ video clip 4 U 2 ponder. Cool???

I am a total sports freak!  I’ve got a competitive streak a mile long & I luv competition.  Whether I’m actually involved & playing myself or just passionately rooting on my favorite, I like 2 win!  & it really saddens me 2 think that my most prolific memories from this entire year of anything baseball & football is clouded-over by all of these MORONIC athletes getting in serious trouble 4 breaking the law & how they like 2 justify their means.  U don’t have 2 take steroids 2 play professional baseball & U definitely don’t need 2 “pack heat” 2  play in the NFL.   Matter of fact, ur not allowed 2 do that in either league.  So any kind of support someone may want 2 show these fools is irritating & a total waste of time w/ me.  If U BREAK THE LAW, no matter who U R, U HAVE 2 PAY THE PRICE!!!  Now I don’t C how, but should that point of view not sit well w/ another true sports fan like myself…………I won’t even go in2 how strict the NHL is w/ some of their players!  Check out who got suspended earlier 2day over a seriously bruised ego that obviously protects his broken lil’ heart.  Haha.  Check it out………………D

Tryptophan Induced Comas

Monday, December 1st, 2008

Welcome back to reality, it’s good to see you recovered from your tryptophan induced coma.  I know I did.  Granted, that’s the beauty of Thanksgiving isn’t it?  Get together with a bunch of friends and/or family and eat so much that the human body actually says to you “ARE YOU KIDDING ME!?”

My Thanksgiving, for example, was filled with frying turkeys, drinking (too much) and eating pounds upon pounds of food.  I, without exaggeration, ate 3.9 lbs of food.  My family is weird like that when we have to weigh what it is we eat…odd.  Either way, I powered it all down and was quite the content man.

I do hope; however, that you enjoyed yours as much as I did mine because in these trying times, we do need to sit back, relax and revel in the more positive aspects of our lives.  Now I know Black Friday was a nightmare (with one confirmed fatality at a WalMart up north), but it’s the feeling of the coming season that makes things just a TAD brighter.

More goodies to come for you as the week progresses and I’ll try to give you some EXCELLENT musical choices as well, things have been quite hectic.

Keep rockin’ Atlanta, life is good.
