Bringing It Back Old School.
Friday, November 14th, 2008Some of you might know that I am a car nut. Love them. Cars are simply put…rad! Yeah, I said rad. Growing up I was around all sorts of cars. My father restored two 1966 Buick Skylarks and they were stunning, one aqua blue and the other a black convertible. Not only that, but he and my older (middle) brother are Chevy nuts. My Old Man has 3 Corvettes (’65, ‘95, ‘04) now and I’m sure he’ll sell his soul again for another.
My eldest brother not a big car guy, but he knows his way around one if need be and I, on the other hand, love them. I’m a HUGE Mopar guy. If you aren’t familiar with Mopar, they are the parts and services arm of Chrysler LLC, but do a TON of stuff with Dodge as well as many other car companies. So for me, Dodge is where it’s at. The first car I wanted was a ‘96 Dodge Ram (didn’t get it), but still, it was there my love for all things Dodge came about.
So as you can imagine, we have a pretty decent muscle car war at the parentals when we all come to visit. My dad and brother (Chevy) and I (Dodge) and for good measure, my mother will attempt, albeit a decent one, at talking about her favorite (Ford).
It was because of this background I love so much that I got VERY excited about Dodge remaking the Challenger this year. Have you seen this thing? It’s stunning…its very reminiscent of the old E body Challengers of yesteryear (1970-74).

This version is the ‘09 Challenger SRT/8 which is pretty much the bad boy.
Compare it to this stunning piece of machinery and you can see that the apple hasn’t fallen far.

This sweet delicious piece of automotive mastery is the 1970 R/T.
The ‘09 outperforms the ‘70 (obviously) and if you do buy the SRT/8, you’re getting the 6.1L V8 kicking out around 425 Horses, which will put you in that seat quick. Reasonably priced as well ranging from about $21,000 - $39,000 (these prices subject to change).
That being said, support your favorite muscle car and let’s bring back the glory years from the late ’60s to the early ’70s. It’s time to bring it back old school.
Rad.
